West Midlands RJ Hub
Restorative Justice in the West Midlands is delivered by the West Midlands RJ Service (if the offender is over 18) through a contact point called the West Midlands RJ Hub. If the offender is under 18, RJ is delivered by the local Youth Offending Service.
There are various ways to obtain RJ. Under certain circumstances you may be asked to pay for the service, so please read the following carefully.
Anyone that contacts the police about an incident, whether it is a criminal case or not, will obtain RJ free via the Coventry service. You should phone 101 (unless it is an emergency, in which case they should call 999). You do no need say you want RJ. If should be offered to you where appropriate. But note that you can ask for it if you wish, even if it not offered.
Or you can contact the West Midlands Hub directly on free phone: 0800 488 0894 or via email at Restorative_Justice@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
In addition you can contact them via the form on their website at http://www.rjwestmidlands.co.uk/contact-us/
But note that, if the case is not considered to be a criminal case and if you apply directly through the Hub, you may be asked to pay for RJ which can cost over £200. Coventry RJ Forum consider it is unfair to ask the victim to pay for justice, and so we recommend that you telephone the police, in which case the incident will be allocated a number and, if it happens in Coventry, will be automatically reviewed by the Coventry RJ Service to see if it is appropriate for RJ. In this case the service will be free.
The WM RJ Service is a joint collaboration between WMP, Remedi and The Pioneer Group. The Service is funded by the West Midlands Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.
