Report on RJ in HE network kick-off meeting
Aim:
The aim of this network is to give colleagues who are interested in restorative practices in HE to come together to introduce our initiatives, share experiences and strategies for growth and embedding of activities, and begin to develop solutions to common problems.
Hopes for a network:
- Community of individuals with similar ambitions
- Place for sharing of good practice, learning, resources and experience
- Source of collective wisdom to help identifying: evidence of needs, literature, innovative practice, examples of practice
- External network that can provide influence and context to support our own innovations
- Help with finding funding
Non-exhaustive list of areas of potential collaboration (some areas of overlap):
Restorative approaches to:
- Student discipline:
- Student misconduct (including serious violations)
- Academic misconduct (cheating/plagiarism)
- Student living in Halls and/or local communities
- Complaints raised involving students and other students or students and staff
- Wider university community issues (e.g. racism)
- Restorative practices in teaching
