RJ during COVID-19 Pandemic
Why me? are still accepting referrals as usual. We aren’t in a position to facilitate face to face meetings while social distancing is in operation, but conversations with trained facilitators can still take place over the phone or by video calling. These conversations are an important part of the Restorative Justice process, as both parties need to speak to a facilitator multiple times prior any communication between them being arranged. We will do whatever we can to meet victims’ needs remotely, which could include facilitating communication with the perpetrator via letter exchange, video messages or potentially an online conference.
There have been reports of an increase in hate crime against certain communities since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Why me? have had a particular focus over the last two years on using restorative approaches to support victims of hate, and we are happy to discuss this with anyone who wants our support.
Whatever your circumstances, if you are interested in Restorative Justice, you can find out more and download a referral form on our website, or by clicking here.
