MVP Students meet Coventry Lord Mayor
On 18 June, Coventry students from Foxford, Lyng Hall and Stoke Park Schools in went to see the Lord Mayor of Coventry John Blundell so share their experiences of the Mentors in Violence Prevention programme with him.
One student said “MVP has taught me skills to lead peer to peer discussions on difficult subjects.” Another explained the students had been empowered to intervene in situations and get others to think about what they were doing before the got themselves into trouble.
“We have stopped fights in school and ones that were planned after school.”
They all felt that MVP training has given them the skills to feel able to do this. They also said it helped the students in younger years to know it was OK to speak up and tell someone and not to be a bystander.
