Coventry RJ Forum conducted an exercise over the summer of 2018 to find out who is delivering RJ within Coventry. We have also visited some organisations outside the city in order to obtain a broader picture of what else is possible.
The following are delivering RJ within Coventry
Youth Offending Service
The Service Manager is Georgina Kell and Matthew Haynes is the RJ Lead .
Finham Park School
Emma Clarke is the RJ lead within Finham Park. The school is encouraging other members of the Multi Academy Trust to adopt it.
Coventry Probation Service
Barbara Tudor has been delivering RJ within the Probation service since 1985. Her passion for the subject and her hope that the decline in the amount of RJ being offered keep her going. She has vast experience in both facilitating RJ and training facilitators.
Coventry Restorative Justice Team
This team is based within Coventry Police, is led by Claire Ewell and is managed by Stuart Randall.
HM Prison Service
Clifford Grimason is the Restorative Work Manager for HMP Hewell, the prison that receives prisoners from Coventry. He also has a national remit for the Prison Service in developing a restorative intervention.
We have met Steve Williams who is seconded from Whitefriars to the Restorative Justice Team. We are told that there are others within Whitefriars who are delivering RJ.
Others We Have Visited
Coventry University CTPSR
We discussed our project with Thea Gibbs, Operations Manager at the Centre for Trust Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University.
Anastasia Chamberlen includes a lecture on RJ within her course in the Sociology Department. We also talked to a number of other members of staff about our work.
We talked to Sam Parr, Campaigns Coordinator within Warwick Student Union.
Police and Schools Panels
We visited the South panel and found that most schools are implementing some form of RJ, although only Finham has taken a whole-school approach so far.
Councillor Pervez Akhtar
He was extremely supportive of the work we are doing and is helping us make contact with other key members of the city council.
Restorative Justice Initiative, Leicester
We met Denis Tanfa and members of his team to discuss the work they are doing and the problems they face.
