Coundon Primary School soon will become the first primary school to pilot the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) programme in in the West Midlands.

Coundon Primary School is currently recruiting year 5 children to become mentors as they enter into year 6 in September. Thus preparing them for secondary school. A training day is planned for all the new mentors on 16th July, it will focus on the qualities it takes to be a leader.

Jayne Ellis, Head Teacher of Coundon Primary, said “The children are excited to be the first primary pilot and I am sure the students will rise to the challenge. It is a great opportunity to discuss issues with the children at an early age to try to prevent any form of violence in the future. The MVP will open the children’s minds to consider where they are a bystander in situations and how to act upon their thoughts to make a difference.”
